What kind of resource requirements does a configuration server use? It
seems like it would be minimal for both disk space & CPU but thought there
may be more going on than meets the eye so would like to be sure.
You are right since the config servers only store the metadata
for a sharded cluster, there is not much space requirement. However, config
servers should be placed on dedicated hardware for optimal performance in
large clusters. The metadata for a sharded cluster is small as compared to
the total size of data in the cluster (e.g. on the order of few GBs for
